Check function




- Ignition on.
- Establish communication with the RTI system by reading diagnostic trouble codes (DTC).

Hint: When the diagnostic functions are activated the control module folds up the display.





Does the display deploy?

Yes - Checking remote control function

No - No Fault Found

- Ignition on.
- Establish communication with the RTI system by reading diagnostic trouble codes (DTC) for example. The display should fold up.
- Interrupt communication with RTI control module.
- Do not switch off ignition.
Try to switch RTI system off with remote control.





Does the display go out?

Yes - No Fault Found

No - Checking remote control function

- Replace batteries in remote control.
- Ignition on.
- Establish communication with the RTI system by reading diagnostic trouble codes (DTC) for example. The display should fold up.
- Interrupt communication with RTI control module.
- Do not switch off ignition.
Try to switch RTI system off with remote control.
If the RTI system can be switched off by the remote control, the fault was due to the batteries.





Does the display go out?

Yes - FAULT FOUND

No - Check, connectors and cables

Check the control module connector and the display connector for contact resistance and oxidation according to Checking wiring and terminals. Permanent fault Checking Wiring and Terminals. Permanent Fault.
Check the cable between control module #A11 and display terminal 6 for an open-circuit according to Checking wiring and terminals. Permanent fault Checking Wiring and Terminals. Permanent Fault , a short-circuit to ground according to Checking wiring and terminals. Permanent fault Checking Wiring and Terminals. Permanent Fault and a short-circuit to supply voltage according to Checking wiring and terminals. Permanent fault Checking Wiring and Terminals. Permanent Fault.
Remedy as necessary.

Hint: After carrying out the repair, check that the fault has been remedied as follows:












- Ignition off.
- Reconnect connectors, reinstall components.
- Ignition on.
- Establish communication with the RTI system by reading diagnostic trouble codes (DTC) for example. The display should fold up.
- Interrupt communication with RTI control module.
- Do not switch off ignition.
Try to switch RTI system off with remote control.





Is the remote control OK?

Yes - FAULT FOUND

No - Fault-tracing information
No Fault Found
