Replacing Complete Engine or Cylinder Block
Cylinder Block
Instead of replacing the complete engine, use a materials kit that includes cylinder block, pistons, gudgeon pins and piston rings.
If the cylinder block is replaced use new main bearings.
Note! The new cylinder block (including pistons, gudgeon pins and piston rings) or the engine, will be the latest variants. (If parts from the older cylinder block do not match parts on the new cylinder block, then other parts may need replacing).

Replacing right engine mounting
When replacing the cylinder block a new engine mounting must be installed in 4-door cars with engines B5204S or B5254S up to chassis no. 24259.

Replacing name trap, naturally aspirated engine
When replacing the cylinder block a new flame trap must be installed in 4-door cars with naturally aspirated engines up to chassis no. 30699*). This is because connectors have changed.

Replacing the flame trap, turbocharged engines
When replacing the cylinder block a new 1995 model flame trap (including connectors) must be installed on cars model year 1994 with turbocharged engines.
Order these materials:
Replacing timing belt and timing cover
Cars with an engine number lower than 131034 require a new 23 mm timing belt (including covers).
Order these materials:
Replacing drive shaft bearing seat
Cars with an engine number lower than 240985 require a new drive shaft bearing seat because of a change in the design of the cylinder block.
