Glass Power Sun Roof Seal

GLASS, POWER SUN ROOF

Special tools: 998 6006, 115 8957

Checking seal
If work has been carried out on the sun roof mechanism that could affect its seal, it should be tested. This is best carried out with the headlining removed. Check seal by pouring water into the sun roof base plate. During the test the drain hoses must be sealed.
The rear drain hoses are inside the side panels in the cargo compartment and can be sealed by clamping them with a hose clip 115 8957. The front drain hoses are difficult to access and can be sealed by applying sealant to the sun roof base plate front drain.

Note: Do not forget to remove the sealant after the test.
After work involving the removal of the sun roof base plate, carry out the following test.

1. Test the seal of both gutters at the front and rear of the sun roof base plate by pouring water into them before it is installed in the car.
2. Install the sun roof base plate in the car and connect the drain hoses.
3. Check that all seals are intact. Install other components. Install new seals if necessary.
4. Seal drains as above.
5. Pour water into the sun roof base plate. Check for leaks.
6. Remove drain hose seals.
7. Check that the drain hoses work.
