ECM-9400 BRAKE PEDAL POSITION SENSOR, FAULTY SIGNAL
DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE (DTC) INFORMATION




Condition
Diagnostic trouble code (DTC) ECM-9400 is stored if the engine control module (ECM) registers a fault in signal from brake pedal position sensor or stop (brake) lamp switch

Condition
- cruise control shut off

Possible source

Signal too high
- short-circuit to supply voltage in the signal cable from the brake pedal sensor
- open-circuit in the signal cable from brake pedal sensor
- open-circuit in brake pedal sensor ground lead
- defective brake pedal position sensor

Signal too low
- short-circuit in the signal cable from the brake pedal sensor
- short-circuit to ground in the signal cable
- defective brake pedal position sensor

Signal missing
- open-circuit in stop (brake) light switch signal cable
- defective stop (brake) light switch

Faulty signal
- incorrectly installed brake pedal sensor
- defective brake pedal position sensor

Condition
- ETS warning lamp lit
- cruise control shut off
