Signal Missing - Intermittent Fault

ECM-6440 CAMSHAFT RESET VALVE
SIGNAL MISSING - INTERMITTENT FAULT

Checking the component, wiring and connector

Check camshaft reset valve connector for intermittent contact resistance, oxidation according to [1][2]Checking Wiring and Terminals. Intermittent Faults and intermittent loose connections according to [1][2]Checking Wiring and Terminals. Intermittent Faults

Check the signal cable between engine control module (ECM) # A13 and camshaft reset valve # 5 for an intermittent open-circuit according to [1][2]Checking Wiring and Terminals. Intermittent Faults

Check power supply cable # 5 and camshaft reset valve # 1 for an intermittent open-circuit according to [1][2]Checking Wiring and Terminals. Intermittent Faults

Remedy as necessary.

Other information:
- To connect the breakout box Connecting the Breakout Box (ECM)
- To access/replace the camshaft reset valve, Variable Valve Timing Solenoid, Replacing
- With the ignition on and camshaft reset valve connector disconnected the voltage on connector # 1 should be approximately Ubat and connector # 2 be a pulse modulated signal with top voltage at approximately Ubat and with a frequency of approximately 250 Hz.
- For information about signals, see Diagnostic Parameters and Pinout Values. Signal Description, ME7, B5XX4T

Fault-tracing information
If the fault is intermittent, do not verify fault-tracing if the fault does not recur.
