Purpose:
The time allowance is changed.
Electrically operated seat, minimizing lateral movement
Background
Intermittently the customer might experience minimal lateral movement during acceleration and deceleration, when driving a car equipped with power seats.

Preparations 1
Position the seat so that all the mounting points of the seat are accessible and can be loosened. Ensure that the front edge of the seat is in the uppermost position before loosening the power seat.
Warning:
If for any reason the seat must be disconnected or taken out of the vehicle, the ground lead 9511522 must be connected to the seat frame when disconnecting the power supply. Failing to ground the seat may result in injury from a deploying SIPS bag.
Loosen and tilting the seat 2
Remove:
- the panels (B) over the front mounting screws for the seat. Pull straight forward.
- the 2 screws for the front mountings (C),
- the panel's (A) over the rear mounting screws for the seat. Pull straight backward.
- the 2 screws for the rear mountings.
Caution
Make sure not to damage any other part when removing/tilting the seat.
Tilt the seat backward toward the rear seats.
Note!
Secure the seat so it cannot fall forward while performing the operation.
Installing the clamp 3
(The illustration shows a bottom view). Position the bracket with the damp around the SIPS tube.
Slide the slot on the fork-a-like tab (2) on the clamp assemble, on to the bracket (1). This will prevent the clamp assembly from turning on the SIPS tube.
Install the screw securing the clamp (3).
Torque screw to 10 Nm (7 ft. lb.).

(The illustration shows a bottom view). Remove the screw (1) and (2). Discard the screws.
Installing the bracket, continued 5
Install the bracket (1) with the gas spring into place. (see illustration).
Install a new screw (2) and a new washer (3). Finger tight.
Note!
The thicker washer (3) shall be located (screw 2) between the bracket and gearbox/motor.
Note!
Check that the bracket (1) and the bracket/ clamp assembly on the SIPS tube are lined up in a straight line.
NOTE:
Ensure that the circlip is installed correctly in pivot grooves.
Installing the bracket 6
Warning!
The gas spring is under high pressure and therefore must be push (arrow) carefully into position.
Push down bracket (1) with gas spring to install the next screw fingertight.
Use a large pair of pliers to compress strut and position bracket.
Install a new screw and washer. Finger tight.
NOTE:
The thin washer shall be located between the bracket and the gear/box motor.
Tighten the screw (3) to 8 Nm (6 ft.lb) and screw (2) to 10 Nm (7 ft.lb).
Installing the seats 7
Re-Install the front seat to the floor board.
CAUTION!
Ensure that no wires are pinched or/and chafing at any point.
Install screws for the seat and tighten to 48 Nm (35 ft.lb).
Reinstall all other recovered parts in reversed order.
Warning!
Check the seat belt for proper operation.
Carry out a test of the seats all adjustments, with attention to the height adjustment.
