Checking rattle when the engine is idling
Check whether the transmission is rattling as follows.
- Drive the car for approximately 20 minutes, stop and select neutral
- Release the clutch and listen from outside the car for a transmission rattle. All transmissions rattle slightly. Compare with other cars to see if the problem is serious
- Check that the guide sleeves for the engine / transmission are correctly installed.
If the guide sleeves for the engine / transmission are incorrectly installed replace them.
When the problem is serious, work according to TJ 11459 with new clutch disc with flexible radial centre.
