1. The seat belt reminder does not flash / tick.
2. The seat belt reminder flashes / ticks all the time.

Note! Alternative 3 is only for cars with a flashing seat belt reminder.
The seat belt reminder us lit constantly.
Select one of the following options.
1 - Checking wiring
2 - Checking wiring
3 - Checking component

Checking wiring
- Ignition off.
- Check the seat belt reminder bulb.
- Check relay 212 (2/5).
- Ignition on.
Check that there is voltage at relay #4 and #5. Check for an open-circuit according to Checking wiring and terminals. Permanent fault Checking Wiring and Terminals. Permanent Fault.
Remedy as necessary.

Were any faults detected?
Yes - Checking component
No - Checking the cable, continued

- Ignition off.
- Disconnect the control module connector.
- Ignition on.
Check the cable between control module connector #34 and relay 212 (2/5) #6 for an open-circuit according to Checking wiring and terminals. Permanent fault Checking Wiring and Terminals. Permanent Fault.
Check the ground lead for relay 212 (2/5) #2 for an open-circuit according to Checking wiring and terminals. Permanent fault Checking Wiring and Terminals. Permanent Fault.
Remedy as necessary.

- Disconnect the control module connector.
If the seat belt reminder lights / ticks weakly continuously, a short-circuit to supply voltage has probably damaged the control module. The short-circuit must be remedied before any components are replaced.
Check for a short-circuit to supply voltage by:
Ignition on.
Take ohmmeter readings between #34 and ground. The current should not be greater than 60 mA.
Check #34 for a short-circuit to ground according to Checking wiring and terminals. Permanent fault Checking Wiring and Terminals. Permanent Fault.
Check #34 for a short-circuit to supply voltage according to Checking wiring and terminals. Permanent fault Checking Wiring and Terminals. Permanent Fault.
Also check relay 212 (2/5) #6 for a short-circuit to ground according to Checking wiring and terminals. Permanent fault Checking Wiring and Terminals. Permanent Fault.
If no faults were found. Try a new seat belt reminder.
Remedy as necessary.

Check relay 212 (2/5).
The relay should click when the seat belt reminder is activated. The relay has stuck if it does not make a noise. Replace the relay.

Check relay 212 (2/5) #5 for a short-circuit to ground according to Checking wiring and terminals. Permanent fault Checking Wiring and Terminals. Permanent Fault.

- Reinstall components etc.
Hint: After carrying out the repair check that the fault is no longer present.
Check the seat belt reminder function.
