Replacing Backrest Upholstery






Replacing backrest upholstery

Special tools:
115 8962 CRIMP PLIERS 115 8962 Crimp Pliers

Removing

Preparations




Make a note of radio code if anti-theft coded radio is installed.

Remove:
- battery negative lead
- seat from car
- lumbar support adjustment knob. Screw anti-clockwise until the knob stops. Continue screwing anti-clockwise and pull out hard.
- plastic cover for backrest release mechanism.

Removing upholstery




Remove backrest from seat.
Release the upholstery catches on the bottom edge.
Start to pull off upholstery.
Then remove the clamps between upholstery and padding.

Installing




Install in reverse order.
Start securing clamps in the middle of the backrest between the upholstery and padding.
Use special pliers P/N 115 8962 CRIMP PLIERS 115 8962 Crimp Pliers to secure clamps.

Unsecuring the SIPS airbag
Remove the transport deactivator from the sensor module and replace it inside the control panel.
