Checking the signal from the fuel tank filler cover opening switch
- Ignition on.
- Activate the fuel tank filler cover opening switch
Read off the switch status.
The value should be LOW when the switch is activated.
Is the value LOW?
Yes - No Fault Found
No - Checking the connectors

- Remove the driver's door panel.
- Check VGLA control module connector and fuel tank filler cover switch connector for contact resistance and oxidation according to Checking wiring and terminals. Permanent fault Checking Wiring and Terminals. Permanent Fault.
- Ignition on.
- Activate the fuel tank filler cover opening switch
Read off the switch status.
The value should be LOW when the switch is activated.
If the value is OK the cause of the fault was loose connections in the connectors.
Is the value LOW?
Yes - FAULT FOUND
No - Checking for an open-circuit

Check the cable between VGLA control module #A23 and fuel tank filler cover opening switch terminal 1 and the cable between fuel tank filler cover opening switch terminal 3 and ground for an open-circuit according to Checking wiring and terminals. Permanent fault Checking Wiring and Terminals. Permanent Fault.
Were any faults found in the cables?
Yes - Verification
No - Replacing component

Replace the switch according to Replacing fuel tank filler cover motor or door switches Removal and Replacement.
Select "Continue" when this has been done.

- Ignition off.
- Reconnect connectors, reinstall components.
- Ignition on.

Read off the switch status.
