Note! The illustrations in this service information are used for different model years and / or models. Some variation may occur: However, the essential information in the illustrations is always correct.
Important information
Cars made from week 6, 2003, have new glass clamp screws installed in the lift mechanism carriage, 2 per door.
It is recommended that the new glass clamp screws, P/N 867 6801, are installed on cars made before this.
This means that if the side window and/or the power window lift mechanism cassette are replaced or if the side window is removed from the power window lift mechanism cassette, the screws must be replaced. The new glass clamp screws increase the potential for adjusting the window after replacement.
Changing glass clamp screws
When the side window is to be reused when replacing the glass clamp screws, complete the replacement of one screw at a time.
At the same time, secure the position of the window against the lift mechanism cassette for the power window during the replacement.
Removing the window from the front side door
Remove:
- the door panel. See Components front side door, replacing Removal and Replacement
- the lift mechanism cassette for the power window. See Components front side door, replacing Removal and Replacement.
Place the power window lift mechanism cassette and the window on a flat surface.
Remove the glass clamp screw.
Carefully lift off the washer (E).
Lift off the outer spacer (D).
Note! Note the hole arrangement for the window. Retain the same hole arrangement when installing the window.
Remove:
- the window and any broken glass
- the inner spacer (C).
Note! There may be shims by the inner spacer. Note the thickness, number and location of these. These must be reinstalled when installing the window.
Adjusting the inner spacer
Cut away a support wall on the inner spacer in order to shim the window when adjusting.
Installing the window in the front side door
Ensure that the horizontal clearance between the carriage (A) and the guide rail (B) is at least 1 mm.
