Transmission cables, bushings and vibration damper replacement

Remove the air cleaner (ACL) housing:




Only turbocharged engines:
Disconnect timing valve from ACL.

Remove retaining clips and washers from the gear selectors




Press out the old bushings from the cable eyes.
Only if the damper elements on the cable bracket are to be replaced:
Remove retaining clips from cable bracket and remove cable bracket assembly from transmission.

Install new bushings in the eyes





Note! The position of the bushings/slits in the eyes. See illustration.

Install the new damper elements on the cable bracket as shown in the illustration






Install:




- the cable bracket assembly on the transmission and tighten to 25 Nm .
- transmission cables to bracket with retaining clips.

Note! The outboard bracket and selector cables are marked in yellow.

- Lubricate selector lever lugs with grease P/N 1161241-3.
- Transmission cables to shift levers
- The two washers and two retaining clips.

Install air cleaner (ACL) housing.




- Install hoses and connectors
- Timer valve to ACL housing. Turbo models only:
