Greasing and installation

Lubricate the constant velocity joint thoroughly.




Install a new lock ring to the joint's inner ring.
Apply grease behind the joint via the shaft hole in the inner ring.
Use grease as specified in Oil, grease etc

Install the new boots on the drive shaft




- Fasten the drive shaft in a vise.

Install the constant velocity joint on the drive shaft.
- Ensure that inner ring is straight in the constant velocity joint.

Tap the constant velocity joint using a plastic club.
- Check that the lock ring sits in its groove.

Fit the boots





Caution! Ensure that there is no grease on the mating surfaces between the boots and the constant velocity joints and the shaft.

Remove excess grease using denatured alcohol.
Pull on the boots on the constant velocity joints and make sure that they are correctly positioned on the drive shaft.

Install new clamps.
- Use pliers 951 2619 Pliers 951 2619 Pliers.
