BACKGROUND

When Diagnosing a complaint of FM radio disturbance/static on a Coupe' or Cabriolet this modification to the power antenna ground strap will improve the condition. The ground strap modification also improves the ability to pick up stations in search mode.

Removing panels

Remove the floor carpet.

Remove the clips and the panel (1).

Remove clips (2) and (3).

Pull out the rear edge of the side panel.

Disconnect the connector for the lighting.

Remove the side panel.

Removing the ground strap

Remove the nut (1).

Measuring the ground strap

Measure from the screw by the antenna mounting.

Adjust the length (A) of the ground strap to 100 mm ± 5 mm (3,9 " ± 0,2 ").

Installing the eyelet terminal

Squeeze end of the ground strap together so that it fits in the terminal.

Use orange pliers 951 2649.

Install the eyelet terminal in the lock grip groove C; squeeze the eyelet terminal until secure.

Secure the eyelet terminal to the ground strap.

Fold and squeeze tight the tabs of the terminal around the strap.

Installing the ground strap

Reinstall the ground strap and nut on the stud (1).

Tighten the nut to 8 ± 2 Nm (6 ± 1,5 ft.lb) Reinstall the left side panel and the panel behind the crossmember.

Reinstall the floor carpet in cargo area.
