I. RETAILER ALLOWANCE

A. RECALL CAMPAIGN 101 DESCRIPTION

Volvo Cars of North America, Inc. and Volvo Cars of Canada Ltd. have determined that a defect related to motor vehicle safety exists in the front turn signal bulbs and sockets of model year 1998-2000 S70, V70 and C70 vehicles and certain model year 2001 C70 coupes and convertibles.

Volvo has found that there may be inadequate contact between the bulb and socket. This may cause the turn signal to not function as designed. A defective front turn signal will cause the turn signal indicator and the corresponding rear turn signal bulb to flash rapidly. Additionally, the affected front turn signal bulb may flash dimly or may not flash at all.

The corrective action consists of replacing the left and right front turn signal bulb and socket with a modified design.

Approximately 253,746 vehicles in the US and 25,883 vehicles in Canada are affected.

Volvo will notify owners of affected vehicles in phases, starting with owners of model year 1998 vehicles. Mailing is expected to begin during the week of March 19, 2001.

A "Retailer Vehicle Campaign List" will be sent separately identifying the specific vehicles eligible for this campaign. This list details all affected vehicles that are on record as being retailed or currently in stock at your facility.

E. OWNER NOTIFICATION

Volvo will notify owners of affected vehicles in phases, starting with owners of model year 1998 vehicles. Mailing is expected to begin during the week of March 19, 2001. Owners will receive letters.

F. NEW VEHICLES in RETAILER INVENTORY

All new vehicles in retailer's inventory and qualifying for this Recall Campaign must be repaired prior to a customer taking possession of the vehicle.

G. RETAILER RESPONSIBILITY

Retailers are to perform this campaign on eligible vehicles regardless of mileage/kilometers or vehicle age. The campaign work covered under Recall Campaign 101 is free of charge to the owner. In the event that the original announcement letter is lost or misplaced, the owner is not to be refused this important campaign work. Your Aftersales Specialist will follow up to ensure that this campaign is proceeding smoothly.

Please note,
claim submission has been simplified with repair options for vehicles having no other warranty or campaign repairs performed and those vehicles having additional warranty or campaign repairs.
