Note! On five cylinder models, the pulley can be replaced with the generator (GEN) still installed in the vehicle.
Removal
Preparatory work
Switch off the ignition and remove the key.
Disconnect the auxiliaries belt. See Auxiliaries belt / belt tensioner, replacing, B5234T9, B5244T7 Removal and Replacement.
Removing a pulley without freewheel
Note! The rotor shaft is left-hand threaded.
Remove the pulley and the nut. Use ring wrench 951 2036 Ring wrench 951 2036 Ring Wrench and twelve point socket 951 2849 Twelve tooth spanner M10 951 2849 Twelve Tooth Spanner M10.
Removing a pulley with freewheel
Remove the dust cover.
Remove the pulley from the rotor shaft. Use tools 999 5760 Counterhold 999 5760 Counterhold and 951 2849 Twelve tooth spanner M10 951 2849 Twelve Tooth Spanner M10 as illustrated.
Remove the pulley.
Installation
Note! For tightening torques, see Tightening torque [1][2]Specifications.
Installing a pulley without freewheel
Install the pulley and the nut. Use ring wrench 951 2036 Ring wrench 951 2036 Ring Wrench and twelve point socket 951 2849 Twelve tooth spanner M10 951 2849 Twelve Tooth Spanner M10.
Tighten.
Install the auxiliaries belt. See Auxiliaries belt / belt tensioner, replacing, B5234T9, B5244T7 Removal and Replacement.
Test the function.
Installing the pulley with freewheel
Thread the pulley on to the rotor shaft.
Tighten. Use tools 999 5760 Counterhold 999 5760 Counterhold and 951 2849 Twelve tooth spanner M10 951 2849 Twelve Tooth Spanner M10 as illustrated.
Install the dust cover.
Install the auxiliaries belt. See Auxiliaries belt / belt tensioner, replacing, B5234T9, B5244T7 Removal and Replacement.
Test the function.
