Procedures





Pulley, replacing

Special tools: 951 2849 , 999 5760 , 951 2036

NOTE: As the illustrations in this service information are used for different model years and / or models, some variation may occur. However, the essential information in the illustrations is always correct. On five cylinder models, the pulley can be replaced with the generator (GEN) still installed in the vehicle.

Removal

Preparatory work






Switch off the ignition and remove the key.
Disconnect the auxiliaries belt according to Repacing the Auxiliaries Belt/Belt Tensioner, refer to Engine, Cooling and Exhaust - Engine - Drive Belts, mounts, Brackets and Accessories - Drive Belt - Service and Repair - Procedures Service and Repair

Removing a pulley without freewheel






NOTE: The rotor shaft is left-hand threaded. Remove the pulley and the nut. Use ring wrench 951 2036 and twelve point socket 951 2849.


Removing a pulley with freewheel






Remove the dust cover.
Remove the pulley from the rotor shaft. Use tools 999 5760 and 951 2849 as illustrated.
Remove the pulley.

Installation

Installing a pulley without freewheel

Install the pulley and the nut. Use ring wrench 951 2036 and twelve point socket 951 2849.
Tighten.
Install the auxiliaries belt.
Test the function.

Installing a pulley with freewheel

Thread the pulley on to the rotor shaft.
Tighten. Use tools 999 5760 and 951 2849 as illustrated.
Install the dust cover.
Install the auxiliaries belt.
Test the function.
