This Service Bulletin describes how to replace the fuel pump electrical connector.

Removing floor hatch (5 doors)
Remove 4 screws from floor hatch.
Pull the hatch backwards and lift it out.

Removing floor mat (4 doors)
Remove the floor mat (1).
Loosen the right panel at the front edge (2) and fold it away.

Removing connector (5 doors)
Remove the connector from the bracket by pushing the lock down using a small screwdriver (1/8"-5/32" wide) and then push the connector towards the right side of the car.
Separate the connector.

Removing connector (4 doors)
Remove the connector from the holder by pushing the lock (1) outwards using a small screwdriver (1/8-5/32" wide) and then push connector (2) upwards.
Separate the connector.

Checking connector socket
Check that the wire terminals are centered in connector socket insulators.
Carefully wiggle the wires to make the terminals move. Replace the connector if the terminals can be moved farther in both directions, then what the illustration shows.
Replace connector and terminals if any terminal is bent.

Checking pin insulator
Check so that the corners in the slot of the connector are undamaged. Replace connector and terminals if any slot or terminal is damaged.

Replacing connector with terminals
Cut the wire 10 mm (3/8") from the connector.

Stripping wire
Strip wires 5-6 mm (3/16-1/4"). It is recommended to use stripping pliers that can be set for stripping distance and wire diameter.

Installing new connector
Note!
Do not twist the wires.
Insert stripped ends into the butt-connector. Ensure so that the color coding matches before crimping.

Crimping wires
Use tool 951 2656. Check so that the wires are firmly attached by pulling carefully on them.

Sealing butt-connectors
Warning!
Use a hot air gun with the heat setting in low. Do not touch surface after finishing work, connector is hot.
Protect interior and other wiring from the heat.
Carefully heat the connector till shrink tube seals connector ends.

Checking shrinkage
If the shrinkage is properly done, glue should be protruding from the ends of the shrink sleeve.

Attaching connectors
Install connector to bracket.
Start the engine and ensure engine operation.
Reinstall interior in reverse order.
