Replacement of Electric Motors

LIFTING MOTOR AND WIRE IN SIDE WINDOW, REPLACEMENT

Removal

Removal of lifting motor and wire from window lift cartridge

Caution!
The lifting motor must not be operated it the wires are not tensioned or damage to the motor can occur.

Remove:





- the door panel. See other manual: Doors and side windows Sect. 8(82-86.88), Convertible C70 exterior equipment

- the window lift cartridge from the door. See other manual: Doors and side windows Sect. 8(82-86, 88). Convertible C70 exterior equipment

- the window pane from the window lift cartridge.

Turn the wire casing adjusters (4) a quarter turn and pull them out.

Loosen:

- the wires from the slide (1)

Note!
Do not change the position of the adjustment screw installed on the slide (1) when replacing the lifting motor so that it is easier to ad just the window when positioning the window lift cartridge in the door.

- the wires from the tour wheels (3)

- the screw on the slide (2) to enable removal of the wire.

Remove the motor and wires.

Removal of wires from the lift motor

Hint: Note where the wires come out of the lift motor.

Remove the 5 screws and remove the cover from the lift motor.

Remove the cable reel and the 2 wires. The reel is fixed on splines.

Note!
If the wires are removed in the raised position the rear wire is unwound four turns.

Connecting wires to the motor

Install the rear wire on the top three windings on the cable reel and the front wire on the remaining winding.

Install:

- the cable reef on the splines.

- the cover and the 5 screws.

Connecting the lining motor with wires on the window lift cartridge

Check that the wire is placed correctly around the four wheels.

Fasten the wires in the slide (1).

Adjust the wire tension using the two wire casing adjusters (4).

Measure the distance from the lower edge of the rail to the lower edge of the slide (1).

Attach the wire in the slide (2) and gently tighten the screw. The distance from the lower edge of the rail and the lower edge of the slide (2) must be 25 mm more than the corresponding distance on the slide (1).

Tighten the screw for the wire on the slide (2).

Connect:

- the window pane to the window lift cartridge.

- the window lift cartridge to the door. See other manual: Doors and side windows Sect. 8(82-86, 88), Convertible C70 exterior equipment

- the door panel. See other manual: Doors and side windows Sect. 8(82-86, 88), Convertible C70 exterior equipment.

Removal of lifting motor and wire

Remove rear window lift cartridge. See other manual: Doors and side windows Sect. 8(82-86, 88), Convertible C70 exterior equipment.

Position the window lift cartridge on the workbench.

Note!
Protect the pane of glass when working on the workbench.

Remove:

- the screw of the wire tensioner.

- the wires from the wire tensioner.

- the sliding shoe.

Turn the window cartridge over.

Remove:

- the screws from the lifting motor unit.

- the wires from the cable reel.

Remove the lifting motor and wire.

Installation of lifting motor and wire

Do the work on the window lift cartridge on a workbench.

Hold the lifting motor unit approximately one quarter turn up from the fixed position.

Connect the wires to the cable reel.

Wind 1/2 turn for the outside wire and 3 1/2 turns for the inside wire.

Move the lifting motor unit down towards the cartridge.





Connect the wires in the wire tensioner.

Putt the wires round the wire pulleys.

Hint:
By turning the lifting motor unit when the first wire is connected in the wire tensioner it is easier to got the second wire in.

Turn the lifting motor unit to the correct position.

Connect:

- the lifting motor unit with the screws.

- the sliding shoe.

Check that the wires are running correctly.
