Draining/Vacuum Pumping/Filling with Coolant and Leak-Finding

Draining/vacuum pumping/filling with coolant and leak-finding

Draining the coolant

Note! To drain the system the ambient temperature should be higher than 20°C (68°F). If the engine is left running for a while (five minutes) before draining, the draining will be faster.

- Draining is done via the service valve on the front
- The A/C system is drained in approximately 25 minutes
- Check for oil which may have run out when draining the coolant.

Note! When trouble-shooting: There are no high-pressure/low-pressure connections on the compressor. Therefore it is only possible to check if the pressure sensor works. Connection on vehicle service valve.

Vacuum pumping

Caution! Check and if necessary fill with new compressor oil as described in before vacuum pumping the vehicle air conditioning unit.

Let the vacuum pumping continue for at least 50 minutes.

Amount of coolant in the A/C system
The amount of coolant which is held in the A/C system is stated on a specification decal on the cross member in the engine compartment.
Filling and leak-finding is done via a service valve on the front.

Note! Also do a complete leak check using a leak detector on the connections of components which have been replaced.
