Auxiliary Cabin Heater Intake: Service and Repair






Replacing fuel injection nozzle, fan motor and nozzle pipe

Removing

Preparations
Move heater to service position according to Moving the heater to its service position Procedures.
Disconnect inlet hose from fan shroud.

Quick-release fuel line connector





Warning! Protective gloves and protective goggles should be used for the following operations because of the risk of fuel spillage.

Remove cover over quick-release fuel line connector.
Remove quick-release connector holder and disconnect fuel line.
Disconnect glow plug cable and remove glow plug.

Flame sensor and connector




Separate the heat exchanger from the fan shroud and combustion unit (3 screws).
Remove fan shroud
Remove flame sensor from motor mounting.
Disconnect fan motor connector.

Atomizer and fuel injection nozzle





Remove:
- Combustion chamber from combustion unit.
- Screw holding atomizer to fan motor spindle.
- Atomizer
- Spacer.
- Outer nozzle head
- Fuel injection nozzle,
- Washer

Motor and motor holder




Remove motor mounting with nozzle pipe.
Remove motor holder.

Note! Note motor holder position in relation to the fan motor. The motor holder must be correct installed otherwise the combustion unit will not fit the heat exchanger.

Nozzle pipe




Open the mountings around the nozzle pipe by tapping them carefully using a hammer and screwdriver.
Open the mountings just enough to remove the nozzle pipe.
Remove nozzle pipe.

Installing

New nozzle pipe




Install a new nozzle pipe.

Note! It is important that the nozzle pipe bottoms in the motor mounting, and that its connector is in contact with the bottom of the cut-out on the motor mounting.

Squeeze the mountings into place around the nozzle pipe using a pair of pliers.

ENGINE





Install:
- motor holder on a new motor.
- motor in motor mounting.
The nozzle pipe must be lined up with the fan motor joint.

Atomizer and fuel injection nozzle





Install:
- Atomizer
- Conical spacer pointing towards the outer nozzle head.
- Outer nozzle head
- Fuel injection nozzle,
- Washer
on the screw.
Then install the screw and components onto the fan motor spindle. Torque to 2 Nm .
Install combustion chamber.

Note! The glow plug socket must be to the left of the lead-in for the fan motor wiring.

Cables




Connect blower fan motor cables.
Route cables under nozzle pipe.
Install flame sensor.
Install fan shroud (3 screws).

Heat exchanger and glow plug




Assemble the fan shroud and combustion unit with the heat exchanger.
Center socket for the glow plug in the flame shield with the mounting on the heat exchanger.

Install:
- glow plug in heat exchanger.

Note! If the glow plug can be screwed in by hand the glow plug socket in the flame shield has been centered correctly. Torque to 15 Nm.

- glow plug cable.
- cap over terminal.

Quick-release fuel line connector





Install:
- inlet hose on fan shroud.
- quick-release fuel line connector holder.
- quick-release connector onto nozzle pipe and screw holder into place.
- cover over quick-release connector.

Heater
Reinstall heater according to Moving the heater to its service position Procedures.
