Procedures


Special Tools:
- Jack tool No. 998 5972, or equivalent.

Procedures

NOTE: Refer to the following for mount replacement:
- Front Engine Mount (Manual): refer to steps 1 through 5
- Front Engine Mount (Automatic): refer to steps 6 through 9
- Right Engine Mount: refer to steps 10 through 11
- Rear Engine Mount: refer to steps 12 through 15
- Tightening Engine Mounts: refer to step 16

Front Engine Mount Replacement (Manual Transmission)





1. Undo torque rod:
- Remove torque rod bolt from engine.
- Slacken torque rod bolt from body mount and push to one side.





2. Remove nut from engine mount.





3. Remove:
- splashguard under engine
- torque rod screw
- engine mount screw





4. Remove old engine mount and install new mount:
- Raise engine slightly with jack tool No. 998 5972, or equivalent.
- Remove old engine mount and install new mount.

NOTE: Ensure that engine mounting guide pin is correctly located when installing.





5. Install:
- engine mount bolt
- lower torque rod bolts (new bolts). engine mount nut
- splashguard under engine
- upper torque rod bolts (new bolts).

Front Engine Mount Replacement (Automatic Transmission)





6. Remove:
- splashguard under engine
- torque rod bolt
- engine mount bolt





7. Remove:
- engine cooling fan, as outlined in step 1 of Replacement. Service and Repair
- torque rod/engine bolt and slacken torque rod/body mount bolt, push to one side





8. Remove nut from engine mount and raise engine:
- Remove nut from engine mount.
- Raise engine so that engine mount can be removed.
- Use a wooden block to protect oil sump.





9. Install new engine mounting:
- Lower engine.
- Install:
engine mount nut
upper torque rod nut
engine cooling fan, as outlined in step 3 of Replacement. Service and Repair

Right Engine Mount, Replacement





10. Remove right front wheel:
- Fold aside wing liner.
- Remove four engine mount bolt.





11. Install new engine mount:
- Raise engine to free engine mount use a wooden block and crowbar.
- Replace engine mount
- Install wing liner.
- Install from wheel.

Rear Engine Mount, Replacement





12. Remove:
- engine mount nut
- torque rod bolt





13. Remove:
- splashguard under engine
- torque rod bolt
- engine mount bolt





14. Raise engine:
- Raise engine max 30 mm. Use jack tool No. 998 5972, or equivalent.
- Remove two engine mount bolts and slacken the third bolt.

WARNING: The inner, left constant velocity joint will be damaged if the engine is raised by more than 30 mm.





15. Replace engine mount:
- Remove engine mount by lifting collision shield and engine mount slightly.
- Install new engine mount and the three engine mount bolts to the transmission.
- Install:
engine mount bolt
new lower torque rod bolt
splashguard under engine
new upper torque rod bolt
engine mount nut

16. Engine mount tightening.
