Radiator Cooling Fan Motor: Service and Repair


Note!
- A new engine Cooling Fan (FC) P/N 9142878-9 has been introduced for the 850 on the following engines: B52XXT and B52X4S with Air Conditioning (A/C).
- A new engine Cooling Fan (FC) with new P/N 9142878-9 has been introduced on the 850. It will be introduced on all turbocharged engines and 20 valve naturally aspirated engines with Air Conditioning (A/C).
- Method of replacing engine Cooling Fan (FC).

Removing engine Cooling Fan (FC).
Remove
- Battery negative lead.





- Control module box air cooling pipe.

Removing engine Cooling Fan (FC), continued





Remove air duct to Air Cleaner (ACL) housing.
Remove 4 screws holding the fan shroud and relay bracket.
Remove relay bracket and disconnect engine Cooling Fan (FC) connector from relay.
Remove cover from throttle pulley.
Turbocharged engines: Disconnect charge air hose from Charge Air Cooler (CAC).
Remove cable from 2 clips on cover.
Disconnect vacuum hoses from cover.
Remove vacuum valve from cover.
Remove engine Cooling Fan (FC) with shroud.

Replacing engine Cooling Fan (FC)





Remove 4 screws and remove engine Cooling Fan (FC)

Replace engine Cooling Fan (FC)
Installing engine Cooling Fan (FC)
Install new engine Cooling Fan (FC). Tighten 4 screws.





Lift in engine Cooling Fan (FC) with shroud.
Install relay bracket and connect connector
Turbocharged engines: Install Charge Air Cooling (CAC) hose.
Screw engine Cooling Fan (FC) into place.
Install vacuum hose and vacuum valve.
Install control module air cooling pipe and air duct to Air Cleaner (ACL) housing.
Install cover from throttle pulley.
Secure all wiring with clamps.
Connect battery negative lead.
Connect diagnostic equipment and check engine Cooling Fan (FC) function.
