Procedures



Bushing, brake pedal, replacing

Preparations





Remove:
- the soundproofing panel.
- the clip for the push rod
- the stop lamp switch.

Remove the nut for the steering shaft (steering wheel side)

Note: Remove the ignition key so that the steering wheel lock is activated.





Press the steering shaft up into the steering column.

Remove the brake pedal





Remove nut from pedal mounting screw.
Pull out screw to the right and position screw at an angle upwards in the bracket.
Fold up the brake pedal, past the stop lamp switch mounting and up towards the lower section of the dashboard.

Continue removing the brake pedal





Fold the bracket up. Pull the brake pedal downwards at an angle so that it releases from the screw and bracket.

Replace the bushings in the brake pedal
Pull out the pedal shaft. Remove the plastic bushings.
Check the small push rod bushing (replace if necessary).





Install:
- the new bushing. Lubricate the bushing using grease; P/N 1 161241-3
- the bushings in the brake pedal
- the pedal shaft.

Install the brake pedal in the bracket





Angle the screw upwards as much as possible.
Install the brake pedal on the screw. Turn so that the pedal and screw are between the brackets. The pedal should be positioned over stop lamp switch mounting and towards the dashboard lower edge.
Turn the pedal downwards past the stop lamp switch mounting. Do this before the screw is secured in the second brat Let.
Install the nut on the screw. Apply a little locking fluid to the screw.
Tighten the nut. Tighten to 25 Nm.

Install upper steering shaft





Insert the key in the steering wheel lock.
Pull the upper steering shaft down. Secure it on the lower steering shaft.
Install the nut. Tighten to 30 Nm.

Note: Use new screw and locknut.

Install:
- the stop lamp switch.
- the push rod and the clip.
