AB G. Testing the Convertible Top
AB G1Testing
The following conditions must be met when operating the soft-top:
- Vehicle at stand still.
- trunk lid closed.
- parking brake applied.
Check if relay test is performed when the ignition is switched on (a rattling sound will be heard from the control module).
Start the engine.
Activate the soft top using button on dash.
Allow the soft top to run to each of its limit positions.
When the soft top is being operated, check that:
- the LED on the rocker switch on the dash button is lit while the soft top is being operated.
- the side windows open and close correctly
- the soft top moves normally and does not stick or operate unevenly.
- there is no unusual noise from the soft top during operation.
- the dashboard LED goes out when the soft top reaches the end positions and the bottom on dashboard is released.
- chime sounds when the soft top reaches the end positions.
Other checks:
- check that the trunk lid can not be opened (electronically) while the soft top is being operated and the engine is on.
- Check that the air conditioning (A/C) system is switched off when the soft top roof is opened (applies to ECC).
- check that the rear windshield heating is switched off when the soft top is opened (check the lamp in the combined instrument panel)
Check that the soft-top cannot be activated if:
- the trunk lid is open.
- the parking brake is not applied.
- speed > 4 km/h (2.5 mph). (Parking brake lightly applied)
Testing complete.
Check the battery voltage after completing the test before returning the car to the customer.
