17Installing the lock unit
Install wire harness and its rubber grommet in door. Be careful not to damage harness sheath.
Rotate the lock unit when directly in front of the opening in the door around the bottom part of the window cartridge.
Lift in the lock unit.

Installing connectors
Install connectors for lock unit. Grey connector to (1) and black connector to (2).

Installing the lock unit, cont.
Push the window cartridge toward the outer door panel. At the same time, pull along the short side of the door toward the outer door handle.
Carefully move the lock unit upward along the outer short side of the door until you reach the outer door handle. Do not turn.
Note!
Do not let go of the lock unit. Hold it in position.

Installing screw
Install a new screw (B), but just with a few turns. The lock unit should not come loose while you work with it, but it should be sufficiently loose to be moved as much as possible.

Installing door handle (older design)
Position the link (2) in front of the lock unit joint (3). Carefully push together the lock unit joint with the door handle link.

Installing door handle (new design)
Position the link (2) in front of the lock unit joint (3).
Install a new screw for the lock unit. It should not be possible to move the lock unit so far as to make the link (2) lose its hold of the joint (3).

Installing driver's side lock cylinder (older design handle)
Check that the lock unit hole for the lock pin is in the correct position.
Install lock cylinder and fit the lock pin (1) to the lock unit.
Check that the lock cylinder is correctly installed.
Install cover over lock cylinder.

Installing driver's side lock cylinder (new design handle)
Check so that the lock unit hole for the lock pin is in the correct position.
Install lock cylinder and fit the lock pin (1) to the lock unit.
Check that the lock cylinder is correctly installed.
Install cover over lock cylinder.

Installing lock unit and door handle
Push the door handle with lock cylinder firmly toward the body while installing screws (A) and tightening the screws to 10 + 2.5 Nm. (1.8 ft.lbs)
Check the function of the lock, without closing the door.
Tighten screws (B) to 10 + 2.5 Nm. (1.8 ft.lbs)
Install the cover.

Install clip (1) and press it into position in the door.

Installing the position lamp
Install the connector.
Install position light assembly into door.

Installing rear adjusting screw
Push window frame in the door (1) toward the outer door panel.
Install the short part of the adjusting screw (2) in door panel.
Install the long part of the adjusting screw (3) in the door window frame. Turn the screw exactly the number of turns, or to the distance, you noted when loosening it. See step 7

Installing cable
Press the cable end (2) to the guide (3) before you press the cable attachment end (1) into position in the door opening module. Make sure that catch (5) engages properly.
Release cover (4) when the cable attachment end (1) is firmly positioned. Check so that the cable end (2) can move freely.
Check the function of the lock, without closing the door
Install inner door opener.

Note!
Be careful not to damage the plastic.

Installing insulating mat
If the old insulation mat will be used you may need new glue. In that case, use glue with part number 1161095.
If the old insulation mat has been damaged, it must be replaced. Damaged insulation mat may not be used again.

Assembling connectors
Connect connectors for
- loudspeakers (1)
- electric rear-view mirror (2)
- window lift and door lock (3)
- luggage compartment and filler cap (4)
Lower the window all the way down.

Installing the door panel
Install the smaller strip in the weather strip if this was loosened when removing the panel.
Lift the panel into position.
Make sure that the striker plate at the bottom of the storage compartment locks onto the bracket.
Install
- 2 press clips in the side of the door
- 6 press clips at the bottom of the door
- panel over rear-view mirror attachment
- frame around inner door opener
- screw in handle
- cover on screw in handle
- rubber mat in storage compartment
Check:
- the function of the lock by closing and opening the door
- the function of the lock by locking using the key, and then by using the remote control
- central locking from inside
- window lifts
- rear-view mirrors
