Cable in backrest, replacement
Preparations
Caution! Install the transport safety device for the SIPS Airbag. See Replacing seat assembly Replacing Seat Assembly.
Removing
Make a note of radio code if anti-theft coded radio is installed.
Remove:
- Battery negative lead.
- Seat from car. See operation Replacing seat assembly Replacing Seat Assembly.
- Seat upholstery. See operation Backrest upholstery, replacement Backrest Upholstery, Replacement.
- Impact protection.
- Undo screw (A) securing the motor's lower mounting and twist out motor.
- Remove the tie-strap from the padding.
- Remove the circlips (A), one on each side of the drive gear housing on the transverse shaft.
- Pull/tap out the transverse shaft from the drive gear housing.
- Remove the tube protection
- Undo screw (B) from drive gear housing.
- Remove drive gear housing (C).
- Remove the four screws.
- Open the drive gear housing.
- Replace cable. Check the new cable has the correct part number.
- Fill drive gear housing with grease if necessary, P/N. 116 1241-3 .
Reinstalling
Install in reverse order.
- Check the cable is straight where secured in proximity to the connections to the motor and drive gear.
- When installing the impact protection: check that the impact protection is not contacting the SIPS airbag's gas generator.
SIPS airbag, removing the safety device
Remove the transport safety device from the sensor module and return it to its storage place on the inside of the control panel.
