Motors and potentiometers underneath seat, replace
Special tools: 951 2631
Preparations
CAUTION: Install the transport safety device for the SIPS Airbag.
Location and function of the motors
- Motor 1 (M1) moves the seat backward and forward.
- Motor 3 (M3) adjusts height of the seat at the rear edge.
- Motor 4 (M4) adjusts height of the seat at the front edge.
Removing
Make a note of radio code if anti-theft coded radio is installed.
Remove:
- Battery negative lead.
- Seat from car. Replacing Seat Assembly
- Control module from the bracket. Control module, Service and Repair
- Undo screw (A) (motor 4 only) which secures the bracket.
- Undo the two screws securing the potentiometer to the motor.
- Remove the connector on the potentiometer.
- Remove potentiometer.
To remove the motor continue as follows:
- Cut the tie-strap holding the wiring to the control module.
- Undo the two screws (B and C) securing the motor to the drive gear.
- Remove motors
- Mark up the pin positions in the black 14-pin connector C.
- Press out the pin for the motor from the connector. Use terminal removal tool 951 2631.
- Pull the wire backward through the cable harness.
Reinstalling
Reinstall in reverse order.
SIPS airbag, removing the safety device
Remove the transport safety device from the sensor module and return it to its storage place on the inside of the control panel.
