Drive shaft under seat, replacement

Preparations

CAUTION! Install the transport safety device for the SIPS Airbag.


Removing

Make a note of radio code if anti-theft coded radio is installed.

Remove:

- Battery negative lead.
- Seat from car.
- The control module from the bracket. Control module, Service and Repair
- The control module bracket.
- Mark up motors.
- Motors 1, 3 and 4. Motors and potentiometers underneath seat, [1][2][3]Procedures






- The screws from the height adjuster. See illustration.






- Remove the screws from the seat frame. See illustration.






- Remove the seat rails from the seat frame.
- Remove the drive shaft between drive gear and seat rail.






- Remove the three screws and two nuts from the drive gear.
- Remove the drive gear from seat rail.

Installing






- Reinstall drive gear.
- When installing the drive gear, make sure that the toothed shaft of the drive gear is inserted in the hole in the sliding block on the slide rail.






- Check that the seat rails are in the same position. See illustration.

NOTE: The seat rails must be in the same position otherwise the seat will not align properly in the car.

- Drive shaft and seat rail.

Continue reinstalling the remaining components in reverse order to which they were removed.

SIPS airbag, removing the safety device

Remove the transport safety device from the sensor module and return it to its storage place on the inside of the control panel.
