Connecting the Volvo Scan Tool


Connecting the Volvo System Tester:





The Scan Tool (ST) and memory cassette make it possible to communicate with the car's various control modules. By connecting the Volvo Scan Tool (ST) to the data link connector (DLC) diagnostic trouble codes (DTCs) can be read and erased, components and functions can be activated, output and input signals can be read, functions reset etc.

Do the following steps to connect the Volvo System Tester:
- Ignition off
- Insert the memory cassette
- Connect the Volvo System Tester to the data link connector, which is located under the center console cover, using the cabling
- Ignition on
- Switch on the supply to the Volvo System Tester
- Select the language, car and function group using the multi-function menu
- Select the related system using the multi-function menu
- Select the function from another multi-function menu:
- Select DIAGNOSTIC TEST to read and erase diagnostic trouble codes and to activate functions
- Select MONITOR TEST to continuously read the values and status of the system's input and output signals
- Select READ CONTROL UNIT: ID to read the control unit part number.
