Test operating the convertible system
Test driving
The following conditions must be met when operating the convertible top:
- speed < 4 km/h
- trunk lid closed
- parking brake applied.
Check if the relay test is carried out when the ignition is switched on (a clicking sound will be heard from the control module).
Start the engine.
Activate the convertible top with the rocker switch in the car.
Allow the convertible top to run to each of its limit positions.
When the convertible top is being operated, check that:
- The LED on the rocker switch on the dashboard is lit while the convertible top is being operated
- the side windows open and close correctly
- the convertible top moves normally and does not stick or operate unevenly
- there are no strange noises from the convertible top during operation
- The dashboard LED goes out when the convertible top reaches the end positions
- there is a warning signal from the buzzer when the convertible top reaches the end positions.
Other checks:
- check that the trunk lid can not be opened (electronically) while the convertible top is being operated
- check that the air conditioning (A/C) AUTO function is switched off when the convertible top is opened (applies to ECC)
- check that the rear windshield heating is switched off when the convertible top is opened (check the lamp in the combined instrument panel).
Check that the convertible top cannot be activated if:
- the trunk lid is open
- the parking brake is not applied
- speed > 4 km/h. (Parking brake lightly applied).
Test driving complete.
Check the battery voltage after completing the test before returning the car to the customer.
