Replacing and Adjusting Micro-Switches






Replacing and adjusting micro-switches

Note! Before starting work, see Preparations before work Preparations Before Work.



Replacing the micro-switch for the front locking arm

Removing the micro-switch for the front locking arm




Set the convertible top to the position illustrated.
Ignition off.
Make a note of the anti-theft radio code.
Disconnect the battery negative lead.





Remove:
- the textile outer roof
- the cover on the front cross member
- the connector for the micro-switches.
Remove the tie straps from the wiring.
Pull off the micro-switches.
Replace the micro-switch.

Installing the micro-switch for the front locking arm
The micro-switches must always be bonded to the mounting points using Volvo two part epoxy adhesive P/N 1161626 (drying time 5 minutes) or Volvo rapid bonding adhesive P/N 1161624 or 1161625.

Install:
- the micro-switches
- the connector for the micro-switches and new tie straps for the wiring
- the cover on the front cross member
- the textile outer roof in reverse order.

Adjust the micro-switches as illustrated.

Removing the micro-switch for the rear locking arm




Set the convertible top to the position illustrated.
Ignition off.
Make a note of the anti-theft radio code.
Disconnect the battery negative lead.




Disconnect the connector for the micro-switch
Pull the micro-switch from the side piece for the tensioner rib lock.
Remove the 2 tie straps.
Replace the micro-switch.

Installing the micro-switch for the rear locking arm
Install in reverse order.
Use new tie straps during installation.

Removing the micro-switch for the cover lock




Set the convertible top to the position illustrated.
Ignition off.
Make a note of the anti-theft radio code.
Disconnect the battery negative lead.





Remove:
- the 3 screws for the side piece on the cover lock
- the 2 screws for the lock housing
- the 2 tie straps for the wiring
- the 2 screws and nuts for the micro-switch.
Replace the micro-switch.

Install in reverse order.
Use new tie straps for the wiring.

When the lock is closed the micro-switch must close.

Note! The right and left sides must close at the same time.

Hint: The indicator arm may be bent.

Hint: Verified by mechanical operation.

Replacing the micro-switch for the tensioner rib

Removing the micro-switch for the tensioner rib




Set the convertible top to the position illustrated.
Ignition off.
Make a note of the anti-theft radio code.
Disconnect the battery negative lead.





Remove:
- the connector for the micro-switch
- the tie straps for the wiring
- the 2 screws for the micro-switch.
Replace the micro-switch.

Install in reverse order.
Use new tie straps for the wiring.

Adjusting the micro-switch for the tensioner rib




The end section of the tensioner rib and the mounting must be parallel when the micro-switch closes. See the illustration.

Removing the micro-switch for the front lock




Move the convertible top to position 1.
Ignition off.
Make a note of the anti-theft radio code.
Disconnect the battery negative lead.




Remove the glove compartment, 6 screws.





Remove:
- the connector. Remove the plastic sleeve so that only the pins remain on the connector
- the upper panel for the windshield member
- the A-post panel.
Carefully pull up the wiring above the dashboard.
Remove the tie straps for the A-post wiring.





Remove:
- the screws for the lock housing.

Note! Mark the position of the lock housing before removing it.

- the lock housing.
Remove the micro-switch (carefully press it outwards).
Replace the micro-switch and wiring.

Installing the micro-switch for the front lock
The micro-switches must always be bonded to the mounting points using Volvo two part epoxy adhesive P/N 1161626 (drying time 5 minutes) or Volvo rapid bonding adhesive P/N 1161624 or 1161625.
Remove the plastic sleeve from the new connector. Note the position of the pins.

Install:
- the lock housing
- the wiring with new tie straps.
Insert the new wiring through the hole between the A-post and the dashboard.
Install the plastic sleeve on the pins.
Assemble the connector in the glove compartment.
Test the function of the micro-switch.

Install:
- Install the A-panel in reverse order
- Headlining Headlining
- the glove compartment, 6 screws.
