Convertible Top Deck Lid Strut: Service and Repair

Replacing gas struts

Note! Before starting work, see Preparations before work Preparations Before Work.



Removing the gas struts, cover




Set the convertible top to the position illustrated.
Ignition off.





Remove:
- the catches for the gas strut mounting
- the gas strut.

Warning! When replacing gas struts, drain the gas from the old strut.

Drill a 4 mm hole 30 mm from the edge.

Warning! Use protective goggles when drilling.

Replace the gas strut.

Installing gas struts, cover

Install:
- the gas strut
- the catches for the gas strut mounting.

Removing the gas struts, convertible top unit




Set the convertible top to the position illustrated.
Ignition off.





Remove:
- the convertible top unit assembly according to
- the catches for the gas strut mounting
- the gas strut.

Warning! When replacing gas struts, drain the gas from the old strut.

Drill a 4 mm hole 30 mm from the edge.

Warning! Use protective goggles when drilling.

Replace the gas strut.

Installing gas struts, convertible top unit

Install:
- the gas strut
- the catches for the gas strut mounting
- the convertible top unit assembly.
