Front Lock Wires (Cables)


Before starting work, see CHA. Preparations Before Work. Procedures

CHF1 Removal:





- Move hood to the position shown in the image.
- Ignition off.
- Make a note of any radio code.
- Disconnect the battery negative lead.





Remove:
- compartment cover from hood for front lock motor.
- connector.
- 2 nuts attaching front lock motor.
- drive wire from spline joint.

- Turn motor and pull out drive wire from lock.





Remove:
- outer fabric at forward edge of hood as described in CHG6.
- lock cover from front cross-member.
- cable ties holding wiring and attachment for drive wire.
- connector from front microswitch then move it down.

NOTE: Make sure lock does not move during entire replacement procedure.

- Pull out drive wire through front cross member and point it forwards.
- Remove drive wire, which is attached with spline joint.
- Replace drive wire.

CHF2 Installation:
Install:
- drive wire.
- new cable ties on wires and drive wire.
- connectors to front and rear microswitches.
- drive wire in lock.
- 2 nuts on front lock motor.

- Test the operation of the drive wire.
- Install lock cover at forward edge of front cross member.
- Carefully fold back outer fabric and attach it to front cross member as described in CHG13.
- Install compartment cover in hood for front lock motor.
