Reading and Clearing Diagnostic Trouble Codes
AFA. Volvo Scan Tool (ST).
General
The Scan Tool (ST) and memory cassette make it possible to communicate with the car's various control modules. By connecting the Volvo Scan Tool (ST) to the data link connector (DLC) diagnostic trouble codes (DTCs) can be read and erased, components and functions can be activated, output and input signals can be read, functions reset etc.
Connecting the Volvo Scan Tool (ST)
- Ignition off.
- Install the correct memory cassette.
- Connect the Volvo Scan Tool (ST) with wiring to the data link connector (DLC) located under the center console cover.
- Ignition on
- Power up the Volvo Scan Tool (ST).
- Select language, car and group of functions using the menu.
- Select system using the menu.
- When the Volvo Scan Tool (ST) has established contact with the system a menu is displayed. Choose function.

Two kinds of faults, permanent and intermittent, may arise . Intermittent faults are temporary and may recur. Permanent faults are always present.

ROP-432 Left solenoid S1, no signal
ROP-433 Left solenoid S1, signal too high
ROP-441 Right solenoid S2, signal too low
ROP-442 Right solenoid S2, no signal
ROP-443 Right solenoid S2, signal too high
ROP-451 Solenoid S1 and S2, trigger counter
