Roll Over Protection System (ROPS)

ROPS = Roll Over Protection System.







The ROPS control unit is equipped with a diagnostic system called Volvo Diagnostics, and is used for self-diagnosis and additional information. It can be read via the Volvo System Tester which is connected to the data link connector.

When switching on the ignition (ignition in position II or engine running) the ROPS diagnostic system does an initial self-test. The ROPS diagnostic system switches to supervisory mode, which self-tests the system continuously. Checks take place in the control unit for internal faults, in all outputs for ignition cables and the output for the ROPS warning lamp in the combination instrument. The control unit controls the voltage, and if the voltage goes below 9 V the ROPS warning lamp comes on.
