Painting the Door Sill
Painting the door sill
General about spraying the door sill
Cars without plastic sill protection have an extra coat of polyester wear protection on the sills.
When replacing the door sill or when sanding through to bare metal paint should be built up as follows.
Prime
Use sanding filler (two part). Alternatively and etching priming filler can be used.
Note! Etching priming filler should only be used on bare metal surfaces. When used it should be sprayed in a thin coat over the panel surface. This coat is then sprayed with sanding filler according to the above.
In total the primer coat should be 35 micron thick on all surfaces (2-3 spray strokes).
Apply the stone-chip protection
Use sprayable stone-chip protection.
Spray a thick even coat.
The coat can be painted over in the color of the car.
