Paint Repairs To The Bottom Swell
Paint repairs to the bottom swell
Vehicles without plastic protection for the rocker panel have an extra slit protection coat on the bottom swell which is made of polyester.
When the bottom swell is changed or when sanding through to the sheet metal, the paint work should be reconstructed as follows.
Application of primer
Use sand filler (2 comp) if possible. Alternatively an etching base filler can be used.
Note! Etching base filler should only be applied to clean panel surfaces and the paint should be sprayed in a thin coat next to the panel surface. This coat is over-sprayed thereafter with a sand filler in accordance with the above.
The total primer coat thickness should be 35 micron on all surfaces (2-3 spray strokes).
Apply stone chip protection
Use sprayable stone chip protection.
Spray in one thick even layer.
Can be over-sprayed in the vehicle's color.
