X. Checking Turn Signal Lamps Function

XA. Fault Tracing

Condition
No diagnostic trouble codes (DTCs) stored.
The turn signal lamps operates normally.

Possible source
Open-circuit in control signal cable from VGLA control module to turn signal lamps.
Fault in transmission control module (TCM).


XB1. Checking Programming


NOTE: Before carrying out this test, check that the car is programmed to emit a visual acknowledgement signal when the alarm is armed as follows:

Disconnect the Volvo Scan Tool (ST) from The VADIS/VIDA cart and read off programming status. IND.ACTIVE should display the status ON for the turn signal lamps to flash once when the alarm is armed.
Is the status ON displayed?
Yes: Go to XB2
No: Operation done


XB2. Activating Turn Signal Lamps






Ignition on.
Use the Activation function to activate the turn signal lamps. The turn signal lamps should now flash three times. Is this function OK?
Yes: Fault not found
No: Go to XB3


XB3. Checking Connectors

Disconnect the VGLA control module.
Check VGLA control module connector for contact resistance and oxidation.
Ignition on.
Use the Activation function to activate the turn signal lamps. The turn signal lamps should flash three times. If the turn signal lamps are activated the cause of the fault has been loose connections in the connector. Is this function OK?
Yes: Fault corrected
No: Go to XB4

XB4. Checking Turn Signal Lamp Function





Ignition off.
Disconnect VGLA control module.
Bridge control module connector terminals A12 and A26.
The left turn signal lamp should light.
Bridge control module connector terminals A13 and A26.
The right turn signal lamp should light.
Is this function OK?
Yes: Go to XB6
No: Go to XB5

XB5. Checking Cables





Check cable between VGLA control module #12 and the left or right turn signal lamps for an open-circuit according to WW. Checking Wiring and Connections

XB6. Replacing component

Replace control module according to Alarm Module


XB7. Verification






Hint: After carrying out the repair check that the fault has been remedied.

Ignition off.
Reconnect connectors, reinstall components.
Ignition on.
Select the Activation function to activate the turn signal lamps.
The turn signal lamps should flash three times.
Is this function OK?
Yes: Fault corrected
No: Fault not found
