Checking the signal from tailgate switch
- Ignition on.
- Truck lid/tailgate open
Read off the tailgate switch status.
The value should be LOW when the tailgate is open.
Is the value LOW?
Yes - No Fault Found
No - Checking the connectors

- Check the VGLA-control module connector and the connector for the lock unit in the tailgate for contact resistance and oxidation according to Checking wiring and terminals. Permanent fault Checking Wiring and Terminals. Permanent Fault.
- Ignition on.
- Truck lid/tailgate open
Read status for the door switch in the tailgate/trunk lid.
The value should be LOW when the tailgate/trunk lid is open.
If the value is OK the cause of the fault was loose connections in the connectors.
Is the value LOW?
Yes - FAULT FOUND
No - Checking for an open-circuit

Check the cable between VGLA control module #A19 and the lock unit in tailgate/trunk lid terminal 1 and the cable between the lock unit in the tailgate/trunk lid terminal 4 and ground for an open-circuit according to Checking wiring and terminals. Permanent fault Checking Wiring and Terminals. Permanent Fault.
Were any faults found in the cables?
Yes - Verification
No - Replacing component

Replace the trunk lid lock unit according to Replacing the lock unit on the tailgate, electric switch or motor (2/4-door). Removal and Replacement
Select "Continue" when this has been done.

- Ignition off.
- Reconnect connectors, reinstall components.
- Ignition on.
- Truck lid/tailgate open
Read status for the door switch in the tailgate/trunk lid.
The value should be LOW when the tailgate/trunk lid is open.
Is the value LOW?
