Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) Information

Diagnostic trouble code (DTC) information

Condition

The control module compares the ABS control module speed signal with the transmission speed signal. The control module also checks which gear is selected and compares it with the gear calculated. The ABS control module speed signal and transmission speed signals should be almost identical, the transmission speed signal should be greater or lower than the ABS speed signal (vehicle speed should be above 30 km/h (16.6 mph), engine speed (RPM) above 1400 rpm and transmission oil temperature over 20°C (68°F)). Diagnostic trouble code (DTC) TCM-000C is stored if the control module detects that the vehicle speed and engine speed (RPM) signals do not correspond with the programmed values and that an "incorrect" gear is being used in relation to the calculated gear. This is because solenoid S1 is stuck in open or closed position.

Substitute value
- The control module "Limp Home" program initiated.

Possible source
- Solenoid hydraulic valve has stuck in open or closed position.
- Mechanically defective solenoid
- Defective control system.

Fault symptom[s]
- General orange warning lamp lit.
- Malfunction indicator lamp (MIL) lit.
- Harsh gear shifting.
- No shifting.
- No lock-up function.

Hint: Harsh shifting - due to disabled line pressure solenoid STH control. This results in constant maximum line pressure and leads to harsher shifting and gear engagement.
No shifting - because the transmission control module (TCM) prevents activation of the solenoids. This stops gear-shifting. The transmission only operates in 3rd gear in positions 1 and 2, 4th gear in positions D and 3, and reverse gear in position R. Shifting can only be carried out manually between 3rd, 4th and reverse gears.
