Checking the connector and cable
- Ignition off.
- Disconnect the seat belt buckle connector.
- Check the seat belt buckle connector visually for contact resistance and oxidation Checking wiring and terminals. Permanent fault Checking Wiring and Terminals. Permanent Fault.
- Ignition on.
Hint: Use a small test probe to take a reading on the terminal in the connector when checking voltage.
Check that there is supply voltage at connector #1.
Remedy as necessary.

- Ignition off.
- Reinstall the seat belt buckle connector.
- Check the seat belt buckle connector #2 for a short-circuit to ground according to Checking wiring and terminals. Permanent fault Checking Wiring and Terminals. Permanent Fault.
- Disconnect the control module connector.
- Ignition on.
Check cable between seat belt buckle connector #2 and control module connector #12 for an open-circuit and a short-circuit to ground.
Remedy as necessary.
Other information
Caution! It is grounded at the sensor casing.

- Ignition off.
Check both seat belt buckle #1 and #2 for a short-circuit to ground according to Checking wiring and terminals. Permanent fault Checking Wiring and Terminals. Permanent Fault.
If no faults were detected, try a new seat belt buckle.
Remedy as necessary.

Hint: After carrying out the repair, check that the fault has been remedied.
- Ignition off
- Disconnect the battery negative lead
- Reinstall the connectors, components etc.
- Ignition on
- Connect the battery negative lead.
Warning! There must not be anyone inside the passenger compartment when the battery is connected.
- Read off diagnostic trouble codes (DTCs).
The fault is no longer present if the status of the diagnostic trouble code (DTC) has changed to intermittent.
Does the status change?
