Checking CD-ROM player function
- Ignition on.
- Insert a CD-ROM disc with map information into the CD-ROM player.
- Use System test function to test CD-ROM player functions. For more information about the System test, see System Test System Test. The test can take up to approximately 4 minutes at longest.
Check that CD-ROM player is OK?
If the CD-ROM player functions OK is displayed.
Is the CD-ROM player OK?
Yes - Intermittent fault
No - Check the CD-ROM disc, contact resistance and oxidation

Check control module and CD-ROM player connectors for contact resistance and oxidation and remedy according to Checking wiring and terminals. Permanent fault Checking Wiring and Terminals. Permanent Fault.
Clean CD-ROM disc
Check that that CD-ROM disc is undamaged. If the CD-ROM disc appears damaged, try a new CD-ROM disc.
Ignition on.
Insert a CD-ROM disc with map information into the CD-ROM player.

Check that CD-ROM player is OK.
If the CD-ROM player function is now OK, the fault was due to a bad connection or a fault with the CD-ROM disc.
Is the CD-ROM player OK?
Yes - FAULT FOUND

Check the cables between the control module #A4, #A5, #A18, #A19 and CD-ROM player terminals 5, 11, 12, 13 for an open-circuit according to Checking wiring and terminals. Permanent fault Checking Wiring and Terminals. Permanent Fault , a short-circuit to ground according to Checking wiring and terminals. Permanent fault Checking Wiring and Terminals. Permanent Fault and a short-circuit to supply voltage according to Checking wiring and terminals. Permanent fault Checking Wiring and Terminals. Permanent Fault.
Check that the CD-ROM player connector is correctly connected.
If the cables and connector are OK, try a new CD-ROM player
Remedy as necessary.
