Checking CD-ROM player function




- Ignition on.
- Insert a CD-ROM disc with map information into the CD-ROM player.
- Use System test function to test if the CD-ROM player is correctly connected. For more information about the System test, see System Test System Test. The test can take up to approximately 1.5 minutes at longest.
Check by testing if the CD-ROM player is connected or not.





Is the CD-ROM player correctly connected?

Yes - Intermittent fault

No - Checking contact resistance and oxidation

Check control module and CD-ROM player connectors for contact resistance and oxidation and remedy according to Checking wiring and terminals. Permanent fault Checking Wiring and Terminals. Permanent Fault.
Ignition on.

If the CD-ROM player is now connected, the fault was due to a bad connection in the connectors.

Check cables between the control module #A4, #A5, #A6, #A18, #A19 and the CD-ROM player terminals 4, 5, 11, 12, 13 for an open-circuit according to Checking wiring and terminals. Permanent fault Checking Wiring and Terminals. Permanent Fault , a short-circuit to ground according to Checking wiring and terminals. Permanent fault Checking Wiring and Terminals. Permanent Fault and a short-circuit to supply voltage according to Checking wiring and terminals. Permanent fault Checking Wiring and Terminals. Permanent Fault.
Check that the CD-ROM player connector is connected.
If the cables and connector are OK, try a new CD-ROM player.
Remedy as necessary.
