Signal too low. Permanent fault

Checking component












- Ignition off.
- Disconnect the solenoids' connectors.
- Disconnect control module.
For S1: Connect an ohmmeter between control module connector 4 and ground and 5 and ground. Measure for a short-circuit to ground according to Checking wiring and terminals. Permanent fault Checking Wiring and Terminals. Permanent Fault.
For S2: Connect an ohmmeter between control module connector 17 and ground and 21 and ground. Measure for a short-circuit to ground according to Checking wiring and terminals. Permanent fault Checking Wiring and Terminals. Permanent Fault.
The ohmmeter should read infinite resistance.

Does the value deviate?

Yes - Replacing component

No - Checking for a short-circuit to ground

Replacing component
Fault-tracing indicates that there is a short-circuit in the cable harness. Where repairs to affected cables is not permitted, the cable harness must be replaced.

Select Continue when the fault has been remedied.

- Ignition off.
- Connect the solenoids' connectors.
For S1: Connect an ohmmeter between control module 4 and 5 on the solenoid side.
For S2: Connect an ohmmeter between control module 17 and 21 on the solenoid side.
The ohmmeter should read approximately 4 W.
Try a new roll-over bar cassette if the value is not correct.
Remedy as necessary.

Select Continue when the fault has been remedied.

Hint: After carrying out the repair, check that the fault has been remedied as follows.








- Ignition off.
- Wait 10 seconds so that the system is unpowered.
- Reinstall connectors, components etc.
- Ignition on.
- Read off diagnostic trouble codes (DTCs).
If the DTC status changed to intermittent it means that the fault is no longer present.





Does the status change?

Yes - Verification, continued

No - VERIFICATION FAILED

- Ignition off.
- Press down the roll-over bars if they are deployed.
- Ignition on.
Activate the solenoids.

Warning! Nobody is permitted to be in the vicinity of the roll-over bars when they are being activated.





Did the solenoids activate ?

Yes - VERIFIED

No - VERIFICATION FAILED

The fault should have been detected and remedied. As this is not the case fault-tracing has failed.
Exit fault-tracing for this diagnostic trouble code (DTC) or make another attempt.
