Faulty Connection To VGLA Control Module






Faulty connection to VGLA control module

Checking permanent/intermittent fault
- Switch ignition on and off at least three times with three seconds interval.
Read DTCs.





Is diagnostic trouble code (DTC) IMM-336 still stored?

Yes - Checking VGLA output

No - Fault-tracing information

Checking VGLA output




- Ignition on.
Read off the VGLA OUTPUT parameter.





Does VGLA OUTPUT display LOW?

Yes - Connect breakout box

No - Checking for a short-circuit to supply voltage

Connect breakout box








- Ignition off.
- Remove immobilizer control module according to Replacing immobilizer control module Replacing Immobilizer Control Module.
- Connect adapter 981 3194 Replaced by 9511495 981 3194 Replaced by 951 1495 and breakout box 981 3190 Replaced by 9511428 981 3190 Replaced by 951 1428 according to Connecting the breakout box, Immobilizer Connecting the Breakout Box.





Continue - Checking VGLA circuit

Checking for a short-circuit to supply voltage
Check the cable between immobilizer control module #7 and VGLA control module #B:9 for short-circuit to supply voltage according to Checking wiring and terminals. Permanent fault Checking Wiring and Terminals. Permanent Fault.













Select Continue when the fault has been remedied.

Checking VGLA circuit




- VGLA control module connector A disconnected.
- Immobilizer control module disconnected.
Connect an ohmmeter between breakout box #53(#7) and ground.





The ohmmeter should read infinite resistance!

OK - Checking for an open-circuit

Not OK - Checking for a short-circuit to ground

Check the cable between immobilizer control module #7 and VGLA control module #B:9 for a short-circuit to ground according to Checking wiring and terminals. Permanent fault Checking Wiring and Terminals. Permanent Fault.













Select Continue when the fault has been remedied.

Check the cable between immobilizer control module #7 and VGLA control module #B:9 for an open-circuit according to Checking wiring and terminals. Permanent fault Checking Wiring and Terminals. Permanent Fault.













Select Continue when the fault has been remedied.

Hint: After finishing the repair check that the repair is successful and that the fault is corrected as follows.




- Ignition on.
Erase diagnostic trouble codes (DTCs).

Has the diagnostic trouble code (DTC) been stored again?
