-------------------------------------------------

Checking antenna ring

- Ignition off.
- Disconnect the antenna ring.
- Connect an ohmmeter between terminals #2 and #4 on the antenna ring.
The ohmmeter should read approximately 5 ohms.

Note! Note that the antenna ring casing should be gray at the connector if it is the correct antenna ring for immobilizer generation 3.

Is the value OK?

OK - Checking antenna ring circuit

Not OK - Replacing component

-------------------------------------------------

Checking antenna ring circuit

- Ignition off.
- Connect the adapter box 981 3194 Replaced by 9511495 981 3194 Replaced by 951 1495 and breakout box 981 3190 Replaced by 9511428 981 3190 Replaced by 951 1428 according to Connecting the breakout box, Immobilizer Connecting the Breakout Box.
- Disconnect immobilizer control module.
Connect an ohmmeter between breakout box terminal #55 (#9) and antenna ring terminal #2.
Connect an ohmmeter between breakout box terminal #56 (#10) and antenna ring terminal #4.

The ohmmeter should read approximately 0 ohms for both measurements.

OK - Checking for a short-circuit to supply voltage

Not OK - Checking for an open-circuit

-------------------------------------------------

Replacing component
Try a new antenna ring according to Replacing antenna ring Service and Repair.

Continue - Verification

-------------------------------------------------

Checking for a short-circuit to supply voltage

- Ignition off.
- Immobilizer control module disabled.
First connect a voltmeter between breakout box terminal #55 (#9) and #54 (#8).

- Note reading on the voltmeter.
Then connect a voltmeter between breakout box terminal #56(#10) and #54(#8).
- Note reading on the voltmeter.
- Ignition on.
- Repeat the measurements as above.
- Make a note of the respective readings.

The voltmeter should read 0 V for both measurements.

OK - Checking for a short-circuit to ground

Not OK - Checking for a short-circuit to supply voltage

-------------------------------------------------

Checking for an open-circuit
Check relevant antenna ring cable for an open-circuit according to Checking wiring and terminals. Permanent fault Checking Wiring and Terminals. Permanent Fault.

Checking for a short-circuit to ground

- Ignition off.
- Immobilizer control module disabled.
Connect an ohmmeter between breakout box terminals #55 (#9) and #54 (#8).
Connect an ohmmeter between breakout box terminals #56 (#10) and #54 (#8).

In both cases the ohmmeter should read infinite resistance.

OK - Replacing component

Not OK - Checking for a short-circuit to ground

-------------------------------------------------

Checking for a short-circuit to supply voltage
If the value was higher than 0 when taking reading at #55(#9), check the cable between immobilizer control module #9 and antenna ring terminal #2 for a short-circuit to supply voltage according to Checking wiring and terminals. Permanent fault Checking Wiring and Terminals. Permanent Fault.
If the value was higher than 0 when taking reading at #56(#10), check the cable between immobilizer control module #10 and antenna ring terminal #4 for a short-circuit to supply voltage according to Checking wiring and terminals. Permanent fault Checking Wiring and Terminals. Permanent Fault.

Select Continue when the fault has been remedied.

Continue - Verification

-------------------------------------------------

Replacing component
Try a new immobilizer control module according to Replacing immobilizer control module Replacing Immobilizer Control Module.
Initiate the new immobilizer control module according to Initiate the immobilizer control module. Initiate the Immobilizer Control Module.

Continue - Verification
