Signal Too Low






Signal too low

Checking the signal from the switch
Read off the status of the switch.
The value should be HIGH.





Is the value HIGH?

Yes - Intermittent fault

No - Checking the switch

- Disconnect the connector for the license plate lighting lamp housing.
Read off the status of the switch.





Is the value HIGH?

Yes - Replacing component

No - Checking the wiring

Replacing component
Replace the trunk lid handle switch according to Replacing the electric switch in the tailgate handle (2/4-door) Replacing the Electric Switch In the Tailgate Handle (2/4-Door).

Continue - Verification

Checking the wiring
Check the following cables for a short-circuit to ground according to Checking wiring and terminals. Permanent fault Checking Wiring and Terminals. Permanent Fault :
- 4D:
Control module #A7 and the lamp housing for license plate lighting #1
- 5D (certain models):
Control module #A7 and connector 24/25 between the left door sill harness and the tailgate cable harness, terminal 5.
- 5D (certain models):
Control module #A7 and connector 24/3B between the firewall cable harness and the left door sill harness, terminal 9.

Hint: After carrying out the repair, check that the fault has been remedied as follows:








- Ignition off.
- Reinstall the connectors, components etc.
Read off the status of the switch.
The value should be HIGH.





Is the value HIGH?

Yes - FAULT FOUND

No - Fault-tracing information
No Fault Found

The fault should have been detected and remedied. As this is not the case fault-tracing has failed.
Exit fault-tracing for this diagnostic trouble code (DTC) or make another attempt.

No - Attempt New Test

Intermittent fault
Check the cable between control module #A4 and the lamp housing for the license plate lighting #1 for an intermittent short-circuit to ground according to Checking wiring and terminals. Intermittent faults Checking Wiring and Terminals. Intermittent Faults.
