Internal battery fault

Erasing diagnostic trouble codes (DTCs)




- Ignition for 30 seconds.
Erase diagnostic trouble codes (DTCs).





Select "Continue" when the diagnostic trouble codes (DTCs) have been erased.

- Ignition on.
- Wait for 30 seconds.
- Ignition off. Remove the key from the ignition switch. Close all the doors and the hood.
- Lock the car with the remote control.
- Wait for approximately 30 seconds.
- Unlock the car with the remote control.
- Ignition on.
Read off diagnostic trouble codes (DTCs).





Did diagnostic trouble code (DTC) GLA-312 recur?

Yes - Checking the wiring

No - Intermittent fault

Checking the wiring








- Expose the VGLA control module according to Replacing the control module Replacing the Control Module.
- Remove the siren according to Replacing the siren Replacing the Siren.
- Disconnect the siren connector.
- Ignition on.
Check fuse 29.
Check the cable between terminal #4 on the 15-I rail in the relay box and the siren connector terminal #1 for an open-circuit according to Checking wiring and terminals. Permanent fault Checking Wiring and Terminals. Permanent Fault and for an short-circuit to ground according to Checking wiring and terminals. Permanent fault Checking Wiring and Terminals. Permanent Fault. Check the siren and control module connectors for contact resistance and oxidation according to Checking wiring and terminals. Permanent fault Checking Wiring and Terminals. Permanent Fault.

Other information:
- The voltage between siren connector terminal #1 and ground should be battery voltage when the ignition is on.
Remedy as necessary.









Was a fault detected?

Yes - Erasing diagnostic trouble codes (DTCs)

No - Replacing the component

- Ignition off.
- Siren removed.
- Try a new battery.
- Ignition on.
Erase diagnostic trouble codes (DTCs).





Select "Continue" when the diagnostic trouble codes (DTCs) have been erased.

- Ignition on.
- Wait at least 1 minute.
- Ignition off. Remove the key from the ignition switch and close all doors, the hood, trunk lid or tailgate.
- Lock the car with the remote control.
- Wait for approximately 10 seconds.
- Unlock the car with the remote control.
- Ignition on.
Read off diagnostic trouble codes (DTCs).





Did diagnostic trouble code (DTC) GLA-312 recur?

Yes - Replacing the component

No - FAULT FOUND

- Ignition on.

Select "Continue" when the diagnostic trouble codes (DTCs) have been erased.

Hint: After carrying out the repair it is important to check
that the fault has been corrected as follows:




- Ignition on.
- Wait for approximately 1 minute.
- Ignition off.
- Remove the key from the ignition switch. Close all doors and the hood.
- Lock the car with the remote control.
- Wait approximately 10 seconds.
- Unlock the car with the remote control.
- Ignition on.
Read off diagnostic trouble codes (DTCs).

No - FAULT FOUND
