Note! For certain versions of model year 1999, diagnostic trouble code ECM-0023 is shown instead. Troubleshooting shall be performed according to ECM-4050.

The combined instrument (CDM) transmits information on fuel level and diagnostic trouble status in the fuel level sensor to the engine control module (ECM).
If the combined instrument registers an electrical fault in fuel level sensor, diagnostic trouble code DIM-0003 or DIM-0004 is displayed in the combined instrument, and diagnostic trouble code ECM-4050 is set in the engine control module (signal too high).
If the engine control module registers a communication failure with the combined instrument, diagnostic trouble code ECM-4050 will be set in the engine control module (no signal).
If the engine control module registers fuel consumption of more than 12 liters while the combined instrument registers fuel consumption of less than 2 liters, diagnostic trouble code DIM-0002 is displayed in the combined instrument, and diagnostic trouble code ECM-4050 is set in the engine control module (faulty signal).
